A very large entry made for a long day at yesterday’s Leinster School Combined Events.
Senior
The Senior age group were well contested in both the boys and girls, Matthew Behan C.U.S. was a class apart in the boys winning by a big margin from Rolous Olosa of King’s Hospital. The highlight of Matthew’s day was his excellent 8.13 in the 60m hurdles.
Annabelle Morris from St. Vincent’s Dundalk ran a strong 800m to take the Senior title from Amy McTaggart of Greenhills Drogheda. The Intermediate Girls was dominated by Elizabeth Morland from Dunshaughlin C.C. who had five strong performances giving her over 3,600 points, well ahead of Niamh Kelly from Sacred Heart Drogheda in second place. The Intermediate boys was a much closer affair with only a handful of points separating the top three. In the end Tim Bowler from CBS Enniscorthy held off his school mate Ryan Murray and Keith Marks from Ashbourne C.S.
Junior
Kate O’Connor from St Vincent’s Dundalk was well over 3000 points winning the Junior Girls from Bronagh Walsh of St. Leo’s Carlow who also smashed the 3000 points mark.
